Real Estate Expo set for November 23

The age-old conventional wisdom that real estate is a worthwhile investment “is truer today than it was 20 years ago.” This, as uncertainty in global financial markets “have created a surge in demand for more secure investments,” says Edwin Wint, President of the Realtors Association of Jamaica (RAJ).

Mr. Wint, who heads the nation’s largest professional body of realtors, asserts that “real estate is a stable and concrete investment, and the global economic fallout is increasing demand for property in Jamaica.”

Speaking in the context of an upcoming Real Estate Exposition to be held under the theme Secure Your Future with Real Estate, Mr. Wint states that the event is being staged to facilitate the dissemination of information that “investors could find invaluable as they make critical decisions about their financial future.”

“This is an opportunity for investors with interest in owning real property in Jamaica to get first-hand guidance from experts in the field,” the RAJ President remarks.

“All members of the RAJ are qualified as either dealers or salespersons and have the legal right to use the title ‘realtor’,” Mr. Wint points out, adding that “the Association is affiliated with the US-based National Association of Realtors which boasts 1.5 million members.”

The week of activities is being hosted in association with the country’s leading mortgagee, the Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS) and will culminate with a day-long expo at the Hilton Kingston Hotel on November 23 from 11 a.m to 7 p.m.

According to JNBS Sales Manager, Judy Benjamin, “the collaboration is timely, given our recent Wealth Creation Roundtable seminars in New York and Washington D.C. to promote investment in Jamaica by members of the Jamaican Diaspora. The Real Estate Expo will allow JNBS to sustain our commitment to helping Jamaicans secure their financial futures.”

More than 40 stakeholders will mount booths at the expo and a series of information-packed forums will be held throughout the day to apprise guests of opportunities in local real estate.
